54% is a terrible recycle rate for aluminum. That means nearly half of the cans are left for the planet to break down. That's sad. Speaking of going green, I don't have any guilty pleasures to speak of but I am slowly changing all the light bulbs in my house over to CFLs. I'm making the switch room by room so I don't break the bank.

You know it is ok that you can not give up everything you enjoy! As long as you are making an effort to help do your part.

I can not go without TP either!

I am a TEA drinker, big time. So I made it myself, however, my youngest now refuses to breastfeed, so he is now on powdered baby formula, which does come in a can.

Great article. Nobody is perfect, and it takes courage to admit that on a site like this.

Great post, Brian. I think it’s great to admit that we are normal and not perfect at being green. Greenies get a bad name when they get too preachy. I’m always worried that people will think I’m not truly concerned about the earth since I use disposable diapers and wipes (especially with my new gig at http://www.ecochildsplay.com). We looked into cloth years back when our first was born and my husband said he’d have nothing to do with it. So…I stopped doing the research because I didn’t want to go there alone. Plus we didn’t have our own laundry machines then. The investment seemed to make more sense for more than one baby. Still, every time I wrap up one more diaper up as small as I possibly can I feel that little pang of guilt. The little guy goes naked a lot, though my neighbour recently offered us ten bucks to buy him pants!
