Moblogic’s Lindsay Cambell chats with Shaun Chapman, East Coast Campaigns Director at The Vote Solar Initiative about the growing demand for solar power in the United-States. The problem with all this is that the US government isn’t doing anything to promote this clean and reliable power.

To overcome this problem, local communities are coming together and taking action. The city of New-York for example seems to be moving forward with solar power and even more so since the 2003 blackout.

Solar is looking like a good idea and I haven’t even talked about the need to reinvgorate the American economy with new, good paying, tech sector jobs. Or the immediate concerns of reducing our carbon emissions. Or the costs and dangers associated with mining coal and uranium. Or exactly what we should do with nuclear waste and coal slurry. Or …

This major event cost the city of New-York over 8 billion dollars (in numbers its $8,000,000,000 for those who wonder). In fact, just three-hundred million dollars (less zeros: $300,000,000) of solar investment in the northeast (about 500 MW of capacity) would have given coverage against this blackout.

If you’re from the US you can go to Vote Solar and cast your vote on solar power.

  • Modern day energy systems rely on explosion rather than implosion, and this generates heat. This includes electricity harnessed from solar power. Energy systems need to be more efficient and work on implosion, so they stay cool. The non-profit energy research organization at http://www.universalsymbiosis.org (also http://www.genuinewinner.com ) is active in these areas which will help reverse effects of global warming. They develop more efficient solar cells too. I suggest everyone also read "Living Energies" by Callum Coats which explains the work of Victor Schauberger and the importance of trees to our planet. They also cover efficiency of implosion vs explosion energy systems. Don't rely on information from the authorities as their advisers don't fully understand the life cycles of the planet. We need to push the authorities to develop forest management and sustainability plans, and this will solve at least part of the problem. But as for solar power, this is partly a solution immediately available to us if we only push the governments to act more on it.
  • Some of the advantages I saw on using solar energy when it comes to our environment issue it do not cause pollution. The light that comes from the sun is free. We don’t need to invest so much money for these and it only requires little maintenance. And I believe by these natural energy many people will be benefited.
