This has to be one of the best approach Greenpeace has taken to take action against Coal power. A funny James Bond like cartoon video featuring Graverson Green going against Cue Coalfinger a coal super villain trying to irreversibly change the Earths Climate by mass polluting with coal power. But the sad thing is Graverson Green can’t take Coalfinger alone. He needs our help.

In fact, coal lobbyist have been trying to say that we can produce power with Clean Coal. I don’t know where they got that because there is no such thing as Clean Coal. I would even say that clean and coal should never coexist in the same sentence.

The US is literally blowing the tops off of mountains to get at thin seams of coal which has damaged or destroyed about 1200 miles of streams. There are plans on the drawing board to build over 150 new coal plants in the US in the next few years, but 63 of these have already been stopped by environmental groups and people like you.

To learn more about the fight against coal power you can visit coalfinger.com. You will also be able to sign up and make a difference in this quest for a more sustainable future

  • That video is amazing! What a great way to spread awareness about how damaging coal is to the environment! Is it being played on TV? It would make a great TV series...

Thank you for the great post! I like how at the end Cue Coalfinger flew away at the end powered by his heated finger...haha
  • Thanks for the comment Kate.

When I saw this video I couldn't do other than blog about it. Specially because it's such an important issues that we need to take action on.

Have you watch the TalkgreenTV videos yet. We need some idea for future shows so if you have any feel free to email us about it.

The URL is actually www.coalfinger.org (not .com) - can you update the article so that it's correct?
  • Actually both links work. You can try .org or . com and its the same thing

Thanks Fred and Marc, you have just proved the point. You represent what Greenpeace supporters are. A bunch of rude and ignorant people, that when presented with something different than what your activist boyfriend says, you guys just go nuts.
Anyway, please show me how the melting of some ice is related to pollution. The earth has temperature cycles that have changed throughout the ages. Go read some books and inform yourself. What if we were at the start of an Ice-age, would then you be against the "earth cooling"??. Educate yourself and don't be against something just because.
  • OK lets be open minded... Lets say global warming has nothing to do with pollution. You still have to admit that the air quality is very poor and that our lakes are full of armful toxics and our soils are contaminated and lack in useful nutrient for agriculture.

Can you at least agree with me on that part??

I went a bit rough on my other comment and after I posted I realized that everyone can have is own opinion on things.

    Thank for understanding

  • god blesss your blog :)
  • An excellent idea. I'm sure this will draw awareness to the negative side of the coal industry. Almost everybody likes a James Bond inspired video clip.

I think this will really help raise awareness...
  • Did you know that the rubbish that gets washed out to sea by all countries with a shoe line accumulates in the middle of the ocean - at the moment there is so much that its developed into a island, apparently 12miles wide. I herd it on QI the other night!
  • Yes. we should think in this direction before jumping into our car and should use public transport.

did you know that greenpeace operates some of the most fuel inefficient vehicles in existence?
They happen to own a retired russian firefighting ship, and a helicopter.
The ship has way more power than necessary, useful for firefighting, but not very good for gas mileage. Helicopters are notoriously fuel inefficient.
Meanwhile, they protest airplanes, but a fully loaded 747 gets around 28 passenger-miles per gallon. Thats better than most cars (which usually only carry one person). I'll bet that their ship gets worse mileage than that.
    Greenpeace = Hypocrisy

Greenpeace is nothing but an organization dedicated to engage young people. They make them believe totally wrong ideas using idiotic and completely unrealistic media (like this cartoon) to make them believe wrong facts about energy, the cycles of the earth and scientific facts.
Greenpeace and global warming are just another product somebody is selling and most likely making millions of. Just like your ipod or your cell phone.
Wake up people, THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING!!... somebody thought of that to exploit it economically. What we should stand up against is a corrupt government , massive cover-ups and a totally illegal taxing system.
It is actually ironic.. even Greenpeace has to resource to kids-cartoons to illustrate global warming, because there is no real proof that they can show you. I would feel sorry for anybody over 12 watching and taking this junk seriously.
  • I think that if you say things like that is because you are very much uninformed. You should read a little more and maybe you would get your head out of you a&? and you would find out that Without Greenpeace the planet would probable be in an even worst condition than it is right now.

Actually, I've found that usually the INFORMED people are the ones speaking out against global warming. Take your own words to heart, go do a little research, and you might actually learn something besides what environmental activists shove down your throat. They can't prove global warming, as much as they might want you to believe they can. They always dance around the actual facts. There's even a petition going around among scientists to denounce global warming as a lie, and force the government to admit it.
  • Marc
Let me tell you this... global warming exist even if you don't like it and there is lots of concrete evidence about it. Just look at the numbers scientists have shown about the Arctic sea ice melting down. Like Fred said...if you can't see the evidence it might me because you got you head up your ass a little too deep. If you would stop thinking only about your little A hole and what resides an inch beside it maybe you would start caring about your planet and your kids and grand-kids who will have to live in this dump you left them.
