Yesterday I posted a video about the “This Is Reality” campaing trying to inform the public about the negetive effects of coal.
Today Reality started airing our latest ad. It’s called “Air Freshener” and we’re very excited to say it’s directed by Academy Award winners Joel and Ethan Coen.
The ad directly calls out the coal industry on their ridiculous claims that coal is clean, as only the Coen brothers can.
Now we go behind the scene of in the making of “Clean Coal Clean”.
When it comes to TV commercials, big corporation will pay big money to make you believe that they can offer you a good product and. Recently the environment is one of the biggest tools for selling a product. Everything is GREEN. Green soap, green cars, green toys, green clothing and much more. The biggest innovation on the market right now are green off shore drilling and clean coal. So they say. Exxon mobile has been one off the worst when it comes to lobbying. Or should I say the best?
Exxon mobile spent many million dollars to make people believe in their idea. The idea that oil is not bad for the environment. Now when you watch TV you can see Clean Coal commercials. The objective of these commercials is to tell the public that they have developed a CleanER Coal. Cleaner is the keyword.
If you think about it. Coal is nowhere close to being clean. So how clean can coal be? No cleaner then it was before. There is still the processes of transforming the gross resources into the “clean coal”. So overall the effects are really close from being the same.
I hope that president Obama will do his best to prevent the coal industry from growing and I hope he brings it down.
The tar sands in Alberta Canada are among the issues concerning green house gas. Next time I’ll give an overview of the effects this oil monster has on the environment and the people that are victims of it.
It’s also sadly true. Just today, another report was released that supported the Reality Campaign’s message: coal companies are spending huge sums of money marketing coal as “clean” rather than actually making it so.

After 8 years of lies and too much money spent on the war in Iraq by the Bush administration, the Americans can now believe in a brighter future. After being let down and pushed aside by their own government, the citizens of the United States can have hope. In fact, by electing Barack Obama a step has been made in the right direction.
For the past few weeks I’ve been scared of ending up with John McCain as the President of our southern neighbors. His campaign was focused on offshore drilling to improve gas prices and help the economy. This would have been devastating for the environment and really going in the wrong direction. I believe that having him as president would have been like going back 30 years instead of making progress.
The way Barack Obama will help the United States get back on their feet is probably the best, most reliable and sustainable method you can have. Investing in GREEN energy!
This involves less dependence on oil, and keeping jobs within the country instead of overseas. More jobs at home goes hand in hand with a better economy. Barack Obama wants greener cars built in the USA on the road. That involves creating jobs. He wants renewable energy. This also involves creating jobs.
If you think of everything that revolves around Barack Obama’s policies you can find something good for everybody. This is why he’s a president for the people.
Now all he has to do is make work of what he said.
This video from Greenpeace features JFK speaking about the energy revolution. It’s sad to say that the people of this world have done short of nothing about the climate crisis and the worst part is that we have been aware of this for quite a long time now.
I was having diner with my folks the other day and I started a conversation on this subject. The more I talked about it the more I got frustrated to the point where I couldn’t talk anymore.
All that to say that we must take action, get off our asses and make it happen. I can’t say it enough, 100% renewable energy in 10 years is possible.
I took a walk in beautiful downtown Ottawa this afternoon and came across this container that separates garbage, plastic bottles, and recyclables. It’s really nice to see that somehow they do try to recycle but what’s wrong with this is there’s maybe only one of those per building block.
I also took a look inside the thing and garbage was in with the recyclables and vice versa. Good try Ottawa but not good enough.
Maybe they could change the containers to clear ones so that people can see what’s in them instead of trying to figure out what’s written on the scratched up stickers. I guess the only way to make that happen would be to write a complaint to the city of Ottawa. I’ll send them an email and see what they reply. Stay tuned to see the results.
