Bi-partisan Speakers…Speaking out on climate change
By Frederick Carle on April 19th, 2008
It is no secret that Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich don’t always see eye to eye. The former and current Speakers of the House note that while they have their differences, they agree that the US must take action to address climate change. They note the immediate need for cleaner forms of energy and public policies that promote them.
The ad is the second in a series which began with Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Pat Robertson. As with the first ad, this one features Speakers Pelosi and Gingrich sitting on the WE couch together (this time in front of the Capitol), discussing the need to come together across partisan lines to solve the climate crisis.
Here is the first ad:
“I am honored that Al Gore asked me to be a part of this campaign urging people to take care of the planet,” Robertson said on the Christian Broadcast Network. “It’s just common sense that we ought to be good stewards of the environment and do everything within our power to protect this fragile planet that we all live on.”
Solving the climate crisis is a monumental task, and we are grateful for your interest in the campaign. The science says we have less than 10 years before we start seeing the worst effect of climate change, but the good news is, we can solve the climate crisis. However, this effort will require all of us to raise our voices and demand our leaders take bold action. The WE campaign is an unprecedented effort using the best practices from consumer marketing and online social causes to engage Americans to join together and demand that our leaders make this issue a priority.
